Ruben De Baecke is a Belgian artist who (in his artistic practice,) tries to start conversations
about pressing issues in European society which have a close personal link to him as well.
Grappling topics like bureaucracy in Emmenez votre acte de naissance, visa inequality in his
Atlas of the world’s visa’s, Paris’ social housing in “La ville malade de sa banlieue” or the
hypocrisy in wanting to talk about these things in his latest work, Ecran de faiblesses.
(His influences come from) he is influenced by people as Renzo Martens, Alfredo
Jaar, Tehching Hsieh, Abramovich, Kafka, Orwell or Dostojevski
